How Freelance Telecom Engineers are adding value to Businesses?

These days many small and medium businesses (SMBs) cannot afford to hire top talent because their pay scales would be very high, and it would impact their bottom lines if they have them onboard. To tackle this specific problem, they are turning to gig workers, also known as freelancers or on-demand workers, to execute specific tasks. When the task is complete, they do not need to pay them, as their names are not entered into the payrolls.

Businesses need to invest a lot of money to maintain and secure their computer networks, as sensitive information travels on them. It is their most valuable asset. When they introduce innovative products or services, they have to ensure that their networks are ready to safeguard them.

The same is the case when enterprises hire a skilled freelance telecom engineer to perform specialized tasks that will add value to their businesses. These engineers will now be much more in demand because it is predicted that devices numbering about 20.8 billion will be connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) by 2020. Telecom engineers are also responsible for designing equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, etc.

As network engineers, they design, deploy, maintain, and secure networks. They also monitor network operations. Some of their other responsibilities include installing, testing, and fixing communications systems such as mobile and fixed-line telephone networks, fiber-optic and copper wire cabling and digital satellite systems.

Here, they would have to install, connect, and test cabling, assess and rectify systems, install static and mobile antennae on buildings or flagpoles, work with aerial rigging and equipment related to it, and design, construct, and test telecom hardware and related equipment.

For all the tasks mentioned above, enterprises will need talented engineers. If they hire freelancers from renowned websites for freelancers, it will save them time to post jobs on various mediums, wait for responses from suitable applicants, and schedule interviews. After a suitable candidate is elected, they need to set up workstations specifically for them. When selecting candidates, organizations must factor in the skills, experience, and their approach towards the workplace.

Organizations need to shell out perks, besides salary, to the new personnel. Perks would include insurance cover, provident fund contributions, and infrastructural expenditure, among others.

In case, it is not a company of repute; many talented professionals may not opt to join it. With freelancing such is not the case. Freelancers will work for any enterprise as long as it pays them adequately, as per the agreement reached by both the employer and freelancer, on time.

Moreover, many millennials reportedly like to be their own bosses, as they can work at times convenient to them. They will also choose tasks according to their tastes and preferences.

It is, therefore, in the interests of businesses in the near future to opt for freelancers for certain jobs. It will be a win-win situation for both the employer and employee.

Meanwhile, such an agreement will also allow organizations to concentrate on their core business strengths. So, it will also make business sense to them to not hire personnel for support tasks, which may at times be highly specialized.
